Musée de l’Orangerie & Marmottan Monet

A small quiet museum tucked away in Jardin Tuileries, Musée de l’Orangerie has been on must-visit list since it has in its possession Monet’s Les Nympheas. This is perhaps one of my favorites paintings, and definitely a top when it comes to Monet’s work in general. I was also surprised that it was open on 1er Janvier since everything is closed. Everything.

The museum also currently hosting works of Emile Bernard (until Jan 5th). You can also see a small collection of Renoir and some earlier works of Picasso.

AFFICHE_ISL_1185x175(FU)If you are a fan of Monet like me, I would also suggest visiting the Marmottan Monet Museum in the 16th arrondissement. No photos allowed 😦 that’s why you haven’t seen me post any. It’s a private collection of Monet’s work. The museum is definitely a must visit in Paris, but often neglected.

It is currently hosting Impression, Soleil Levant – the painting that gave rise to the Impressionist movement. The exhibition is definitely worth a visit. I had the opportunity to visit the place twice and loved it.
